Ross Kelly Cup

Overview

The annual Ross Kelly Cup is Clontarf’s largest event and was held in Tuggerah, NSW. The Ross Kelly Cup is a significant highlight of the Clontarf calenda and embodies the values of commitment, sportsmanship and teamwork that Clontarf work to instill in the young men that attend their Academies. The event encourages the young men at the Academies to strive at school and rewards those that show commitment through the year, and this year saw 850 boys from Year 9 and Year 10 across the State compete for a thrilling rugby league carnival. The day saw 41 teams made up from 59 Academies compete in the Cup, with over 120 games played.

The young men from Broken Hill travelled the furthest, an impressive distance of over 1200 kilometres, and slept on hall floors to be able to make the journey to Tuggerah to compete in the Ross Kelly Cup.  They combined forces with Academy members from Bidwell to compete in several games.  The Broken Hill team showed enthusiasm, camaraderie, skills, and determination and we were so proud to cheer them on and show our support.
